ABOUT WAGNER COLLEGE
We are an award-winning small liberal arts college a short ride away from the southern tip of Manhattan on the famous Staten Island Ferry. The campus has been cited as among the most beautiful in the Northeast. October is autumn in New York and that time rivals only spring when we are at our most pleasing. The campus is on the highest point on Staten Island (Grymes Hill), which overlooks the entrance to New York City's harbor and the Verazzano Narrows Bridge, the homestead of the Cunard family. Wagner is one of about 20 colleges associated with the Lutheran Church in America. Our president is on the board of the prestigious AACU (American Association of Colleges and Universities). Last year's commencement speaker was Elie Wiesel. Visit Wagner College’s website for more information: www.wagner.edu.

TRANSPORTATION
BY AIR: Wagner College is served by all three New York airports, the closest being Newark International and JFK International Airports. Car services and limousine services will be available through Gina Limo.

BY TRAIN: Amtrak serves the college via Pennsylvania Station (from Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago and points west) and Metro North via Grand Central Station connects with areas north of New York City and Connecticut, running as far as New Haven (Yale University). The green line (4 Train) takes you to the Whitehall Ferry Terminal from Grand Central and the red line (1 Train) runs from Pennsylvania Station to Rector Street (a five-minute walk to the ferry terminal). Alternatively, the red line runs express from Pennsylvania Station to Wall Street, which is a walk of about 10 minutes along Water Street to the ferry terminal. We hope that the South Ferry station will be up and running by October. This is the last stop on the red line that was badly affected by Hurricane Sandy.

BY FERRY: Free shuttle service from the St George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island to the hotels and to the college will be available from 7:00 am to midnight for all three days of the conference. Those participants who choose to stay in Manhattan are about 45 minutes from the college to the Whitehall Ferry Terminal in Manhattan, which connects to the yellow line (R Train) and the green line (4 Train) uptown to Times Square and Union Square. Student escorts will be available to help you meet departures of the shuttle services and greet you when you arrive on campus. BY CAR: Those who are driving can reach campus via the Verazzano Narrows Bridge from Long Island, upstate New York and New England. Two bridges from New Jersey (Outbridge Crossing and Goethals Bridge) link drivers to the Newark airport and also to New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The drive from Philadelphia is about 90 minutes. Click for google map.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Staten Island Hotel Options
Accommodations for the symposium on Staten Island will be available at: The Hilton Garden Inn (718-477-2400) and its sister hotel The Hampton Inn and Suites (718-477-1600). When making a reservation at the Hilton or Hampton hotels, call the hotel directly (not their 800 number) and ask for “the Wagner College rate,” which is $139 per night. If you do use the Hilton central toll-free booking number ask to be connected to the on-site reservation desk at the hotel on Staten Island.

Free shuttle service between the college and these hotels will be provided. Staten Island is served by Newark International Airport, which is a short ride.
